“Wines of Crete” Showcase for Chinese importers and reporters

During the next days “Wines of Crete” organizes a wine showcase event for Chinese importers and reporters, continuing the effort of promoting the Cretan wines and opening new markets abroad.

Chinese Visitors arrive on Sunday the 6th of April and they will have the chance to visit Cretan vineyards with the unique characteristics, taste not only the 12 wines of Origin with the Geographical Indications (Protected Designation of Origin (PDO) and Protected Geographical Indication (PGI), but the 11 indigenous Cretan Varieties as well.

On Monday they will visit Dourakis Winery, at Alikampos village of Chania, where a wine tasting of “PGI Crete” wines will be held. The next day they will visit the Gavalas Winery, at Vorias village of Heraklion, where the wine tasting includes wines with the indication “PGI Crete” and “PDO Dafnes”. The Cretan wine experience will end on Wednesday, at the Lyrarakis Winery at Alagni of Heraklion, where they will taste “PDO Peza” and “PGI Crete” wines.

During their visit they will, also, have the chance to taste specialties of the Cretan gastronomy and experience different aspects of the Cretan way of life and culture.

The visit is being organized, by the Winemaker Association of Heraklion, the Winemaker Association of Chania and Rethymno and the Heraklion Chamber of Commerce and Industry, and it’s a part of the action “Visits from media and trade representatives from China” of the financial program “Promotional Actions for the Cretan Wine in China and Ukraine” during the Wine Promotion in Third Countries, campaign financed with aid from the European Union and Greece.
