“Open Doors” at the wineries of Crete! Saturday, May 23 & Sunday, May 24, 2026.

On Saturday, May 23 and Sunday, May 24, from 11:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m., wine and wine tourism enthusiasts will have the opportunity to explore the Wine Roads of Greece and participate in a variety of activities, including guided tours, wine tastings, competitions with prizes, and many other surprises.

It is worth noting that admission to the wineries during the two-day event on May 23–24 is free of charge.

Plan your own getaway now by designing the wine route you wish to follow.

Wherever you may be in Crete, take a journey through the countryside and visit one, two, or even more wineries.

Immerse yourself in the magical world of wine, enjoy the landscape shaped by the vineyards, discover the winemaking process, and taste exceptional branded Cretan wines.

Heraklion Regional Unit:

Amargiotakis Winery – Open only on Sunday, May 24
Aggelakis Winery

Guided tours and wine tastings featuring all wines of the winery, including a vertical tasting of the “Cornelia” label with vintages from 2015 to 2024. The event will also include a live traditional clay pot-making demonstration, creative activities for children, and a traditional treat with roasted Thrapsano-style delicacies.

On Saturday, May 23 (14:00–18:00), musician Michael Geyer will accompany the experience with jazz and piano selections spanning from the 1930s to the present day.

In addition, on both Saturday and Sunday (16:00–17:30), a vertical tasting of five Vidiano vintages will take place.

On Sunday, May 24, it will host the event “Be a Winemaker for a Good Cause”, with two available participation slots (12:00–13:30 & 15:00–16:30). Participation will have a symbolic fee, which will be donated to the Pediatric Oncology Clinic of PAGNI (University Hospital of Heraklion).

From 14:30 to 17:00, two vertical tastings will take place. The first will feature Fragospito White 2024 and 2025, allowing guests to observe the differences in blend evolution. The second will include only Vidiano from the current and previous vintages.

At 17:00, there will be a walk through the vineyard with winemaker Nikos Gavalas.

Guided tours will be held every hour.

Vidiano & International Benchmarks

Vidiano meets iconic international grape varieties in a blind tasting featuring wines from some of the world’s most important wine regions.
How well does this multidimensional Cretan variety stand alongside internationally recognized and established grape varieties from the global vineyard?

This Sunday, May 24 at 1:30 PM, in our winery cellar.

The presentation will be led by sommeliers Alexandros Katsikandarakis and Kyriakos Faltsetas.
